Furyon live at Twitrfest 2

After a day filled with sets from some fantastic bands who’d travelled from all over the country – and even crossed seas – to play CackBlabbath’s Twitrfest II, anticipation had been growing and expectations were high for Furyon’s headline set.

Having seen the band play to a huge crowd on the Metal Hammer stage at High Voltage last year, it was great to see them up close and personal in such an intimate venue as The Snooty Fox. It’s always a buzz to get right down the front to see one of your favourite bands and Furyon were on top form.

Frontman Matt seemed to be in his element and Furyon had the crowd in the palm of their hands. The band were joined once again by Solsikk’s Chris Webb on co-lead guitar, a man growing into the the not inconsiderable role of deputising for Chris Green.

Playing almost all of their debut album Gravitas they treated us to a storming set featuring Disappear Again, the driving rhythm of Wasted on You, ballad Our Peace Someday, Voodoo Me , Don’t Follow and my own favourite Souvenirs.  When their set came to an end the crowd wanted more – and squeezing the pips out of the licence Furyon rounded off the evening with the superb Desert Suicide.

Furyon have clearly built a loyal fanbase over the past year, and with their hard work, nationwide gig schedule and often self-funded promotion they’re gathering new fans all the time.

If you haven’t seen Furyon live before (or even if you have!) you should head down to the Purple Turtle in Camden on Thursday 15 March 2012 – it surely won’t be long before the chance to see them play a venue that size is gone and you’ll be trekking out to Wembley Arena instead.
