Structures Live at Manchester Academy

Structures Live in Manchester by WendyElainePhotography.comIt’s always hard being the first band on, especially somewhere like Academy 1, which has a strict curfew. It means that if (like tonight) there are 4 bands on..

A) You don’t get very long and

B) You’re on not long after the doors open and playing to a mostly empty room.

Well, although the first point may be true, Canadian outfit Structures certainly weren’t playing to an empty room for long, and there was a general charge in the direction of the barrier as soon as the band opened up. Alas the bane of the lowly support band’s life, crap sound, was in evidence and although it did improve as the set went on the band started with almost no vocals in the mix, and their trademark sharp, technical edge being somewhat lost in the sludge.

Even with that though, Structures managed to battle through and win over the ever expanding crowd. I suspect this is a band that you’re going to be hearing a lot more about. Loved the synchronised bounce-bounce-bounce-KICK from the guitarists too šŸ™‚

Structures, come back soon please. I’d love to see these guys playing in a cool little club with decent sound.
