2012 Year End Report : Skyharbor

One of the unexpected album-of-the-year contenders in 2012, Skyharbor’s Blinding White Light is still on regular repeat here at CackBlabbath. It’s fair to say that 2012 has been a good one for the band, and fingers crossed they can build on that in 2013…

Whatā€™s been the highlight of 2012?

So many – it’s impossible to name one! Releasing our debut record worldwide, being invited by Lamb of God to support them at the kickstart of their world tour, playing our first European festival – it’s crazy what an eventful year this has been for us!

Thinking back to a year ago, have you achieved what you hoped to?

For the most part, yes – our presence has definitely shot up a great deal over this last year. I can’t really complain, 2012 has been great to us.

What are the ambitions for the coming year?

Write and record the second album, hopefully get on a tour or two in the late summer/fall, generally move into next gear and really push the band forward with all we’ve got. I also have a rather ambitious idea for a music video which I’d like to try and see if we can pull off.

Where would you like to see the band this time next year?

In a tour bus somewhere in Europe or America would be nice haha!

If you could play one UK festival next year, which one would it be and why?

Download. The vibe, the bands, the filth and grime and the amazing music. Really don’t need to say any more – it’s my life’s dream to play on that stage one day!

What has been your favourite album of 2012?

This is a crazy hard one to pick, but Periphery’s new album saw some SERIOUS replay action in my music collection. That and the new Deftones record ‘Koi No Yokan’ was absolutely stunning.

And what is the best gig you have seen in the past 12 months?

It’s a tie between Karnivool and Periphery – both those bands are jaw droppingly awesome live!

2013 looks like being another great year for gigs, any you are particularly looking forward to?

We haven’t really planned any shows just yet. But when we do, rest assured they will be epic!!

Looking into your crystal ball, who do you think are going to be the hot bands to watch out for in 2013?

Twelve Foot Ninja, Circles, Disperse, and us of course šŸ˜€

If you could go on tour with any band or musician, who would you pick?

This doesn’t have to be a realistic choice, right? Oceansize.

If I do have to be realistic, a tour with Karnivool would make me die a happy man!

New Year is fast approaching, so it’s resolution time. What are your resolutions for 2013 going to be, and how long do you think they’ll last?

To hit the gym and work out till I have the perfectly chiseled belly – I suppose it’ll last 4 hours if I’m being generous.
