Anihilated have been doing thrash, often without much recognition to be honest, since before anyone decided that this type of heavy metal with punkish undertones should be called “thrash”. Channeling their best Slayer and Exodus vibes, the Ipswich outfit did more than a simple thrash xerox at a solid, energised set at Hammerfest VI. Piledriving riffing, chunky choruses and a uk punk ethic were simple but effective ingredients that warmed a crowd that built as the set progressed.
This was thrash metal as nature intended: thrilling, instant and sure to put a smile on your face. A set based around their iDeviant album this was a band warming the hearts of fans old and new alike as festival proceedings got raucously underway. You know a band is doing ok when two impromptu circle pits get started. Effective, efficient and occasionally very excellent, Anihilated did exactly what it said on the tin.
Can we ask for more than that? No, I don’t think we can.
