CB Spotlight : Madmyz

MaxdmyzBand Name : Maxdmyz

Home Town : London

Year Formed : 2001

Current Lineup : Vortex on keys and programming, Jay, drums and programming, Twister, vocals, Roger, guitar, A’Zedd, bass.

For the uninitiated, give us a Brief History of the band:

Maxdmyz has been through a number of incarnations over the years – and though, always backed with heavy guitars, the music has morphed through time from hard rock, drum n bass, rap and alt/prog metal.

And what’s been the highlight so far ?:

From a pure career prospective, I suppose it has to be a collaboration with Royce da Five Nine and Eminem. But the song All, from our latest album The Hate Plane broke into the top 40 for US radio airplay a year or two ago, which brought us a few quid. As far as we’re concerned, from a creative and personal perspective, it’s this latest lineup of the band, which is probably the most functional and productive we’ve ever had.

Big plans for the future ? :

No, in a word – we just take it as it comes. It’s always about the next tune, the next gig.

Describe your music in 1 word :

What is the most common misconception about the band?

That the band’s frontman is someone called Max Dmyz.

Tell us something interesting / amusing / stupid about the band :

We’re all intentionally under-achievers.

Who would be your ideal tour-mates ?:

AC/DC – pre-Axl.

And what would be on the rider ?:

Cous cous.

People say rock’n’roll is getting too safe, too tame. What’s the most “rock’n’roll excess” thing you’ve done ?

I was almost decapitated by a maniac with a chainsaw (who happened to be in the band) at a gig at the Electric Ballroom in London. And at the time, at least, I think he definitely wanted my head.
