CB Spotlight : The Conniption Fits

The Conniption FitsBand Name : The Conniption Fits

Home Town : Lebanon, New Hampshire

Year Formed : 2004

Current Lineup : Stevens Blanchard, Shawn Snyder, Jamie Hosley

For the uninitiated, give us a Brief History of the band:

Shawn and I (Stevens) started the band after our previous band, Motorplant, split up.  We did quite well with Motorplant, making a lot of connections, so we had a bit of an advantage when starting this band.  Jamie joined later after when we needed a new bass player, his name had been mentioned many times as the best bass player around.  It took a bit of convincing, but after a couple shows he was hooked.

And what’s been the highlight so far ?:

Every week is an adventure and they are all so different.  We just did a show at a “Trucks Gone Wild” event and it was a blast, it was like being on the set of a Mad Max movie.  Then we did a private 4th of July party on Lake Morey in Vermont, right under the fireworks.  Later this year we will be back on Martha’s Vineyard for a string of shows.  We get paid to party with all kinds of people, so yeah, it’s a blast.

Big plans for the future ? :

Just moving forward, doing what we do.  I think it’s better to create stuff, shows, albums, videos, etc. and then promote them as opposed to promoting what you’re going to do…  plans change.  We don’t know what we’re going to do, just what we’ve done.

Describe your music in 1 word :

What is the most common misconception about the band?

That we are overrated.  We have actually had people tell us they purposely didn’t check us out because of all the hype (locally of course).  Then when they finally came to a show they found out it wasn’t all hype.

Tell us something interesting / amusing / stupid about the band :

Shawn and I are total pyromaniacs.  Jame is a talented farmer.

Who would be your ideal tour-mates ?:

Foo Fighters

And what would be on the rider ?:

People say rock’n’roll is getting too safe, too tame. What’s the most “rock’n’roll excess” thing you’ve done ?

Too many to share.  Plus I wouldn’t want to incriminate ourselves, but we’ve seen some shit.  We’ve also been know to get a bit comically crazy at the after party.  We usually try and replace everything we break though, wouldn’t want any bad karma.
