Teenage guitar sensation Aaron Keylock is a young man that crops up on our radar quite a lot. We’ve seen him put on some great shows at the likes of Winter Rocks, Download, HRH and lots more…
He’s about to release his debut album after quite a while on the gig circuit; ‘Cut Against The Grain’ is an unashamedly classic sounding rock album that is going down a storm here at CackBlabbath.
So it’s time to shine the CB spotlight on Aaron and his band:
Name: Aaron Keylock
Home Town: Oxford England
Year Started Out: 2006
Aaron Keylock – Guitar/Vocals
Jordan Maycock – Bass
Sonny Greaves – Drums
Brief History: I started playing guitar when I was 8 years old. A year later I discovered Blues and Rock music and started going to the London jams when I was 11. I first put a band together by the time I was 12 with some session guys and just hit the road! Now at 19 I’m about to release my debut album ‘Cut Against The Grain on Provogue Records, on January 20th.
Career Highlight: There have been some great times since I’ve been play music live! There was one night we went to a friend’s workshop after a show for some drinks and we found out that he had a couple of snakes, a machine gun, strip poles and motorbikes! It was a pretty cool night and we try to visit him every time we play round there now!
Future Plans: Well once the albums out my main plan is to keep touring and further down the line I just want to be able to keep making music that I love.
Describe your music in 1 word: Honest
If you could convert someone to your music with one song, which would it be: There’s loads to chose from but I guess Against The Grain sums me up pretty well! Every word in that song means something to me. The music is honest about how I felt when I wrote it, which is what I’ve always believed in. It’s basically just an honest rock n roll song that shows who I am and what I want to say.
Tell us something interesting / amusing / stupid about you/your band: Honestly I’d have to go back to that night at my friends workshop with the snakes and guns. It was just so rock & roll!
Who would be your ideal tour-mates: Black Crowes in 92′ the music and energy is everything I love about rock and roll!
And what would be on the rider: Our favourite thing to do before a show is to put a Leon Russell album on, light some incense and have a drink. So I guess some beers, bottle of Jack Daniels, some Leon Russell records and some incense sticks!
