The Stranglers Live In Nottingham

Monday the 13th of April saw the return of English Punk/New Wave band The Stranglers to play at Rock City as part of their 2018 definitive tour, supported by Irish alternative rockers Therapy?

The Stranglers have been around for over 40 years and with a reputation for great live performances and a back catalogue of 17 top 40 albums, it’s no surprise that they’ve built up a solid and loyal following. The fantastic turn out for a thoroughly cold, wet and dark weekday evening clearly demonstrates their continued appeal to people of all ages.

The line-up for the tour comprised of original band members Jean-Jacques “JJ” Burnel on bass and vocals, Dave Greenfield on Keyboards. Singer and lead guitarist for 18 years Baz Warne and touring drummer Jim Macaulay. Considering the years they’ve put into the business they appeared to be as enthusiastic as ever to be on tour.

The Stranglers played a solid set covering many of their classics such as Peaches, Always the Sun and No More heroes. If there was one track I wanted to hear live, it was ‘Golden Brown’, it’s an all time favourite of mine and I’m glad to say they didn’t disappoint.

All in all, a great evening with a great band.
